AWARDS CEREMONY - GREY STREET ART AWARD (2 July 2012)

SOUTHBANK - BRISBANE

My vision for the Grey Street design was to convey a message of community and connection.  I wanted people to look skywards and be pleasantly surprised and inspired as they lingered or passed through the street. 

My entry is whimsical and colourful to attract attention of all ages and nationalities.  Inspiration stems from the Sistine Chapel and the late, great artists Marc Chagall and Diego Rivera.  The figures were placed so they would appear to be floating above the street and connecting with viewers below.

Each of the 8 panels includes a linking path representing the Brisbane River, Queensland sky and bougainvillea covered path that stretches the length of Southbank. Local flora, plant life and a Parkland animal are also included in each design.

My outdoor gallery design for the overhead structures represents the area's cultural artery along with transport, business, residential, arts and visitors to the busy hub.
